Set up the fence quote tool
Price your fence styles, gates, and extras so customers can get an instant fence quote.
The fence quote tool prices the fences customers draw on your quote page. Set your prices here, then check what is still missing before you go live.
Before you start
The Quoting Tools permission controls fence pricing. Edit lets you add and change fence items and run Adjust prices. Full is also required to delete items, change the price range or removal settings, and run Replace pricing. For roles, see Create and Edit Roles and Permissions.
Start from the standard pricing
Full users see Start with the standard fence pricing on the fence page. The standard set starts every price at $0 and includes two gate options.
Warning
Replace pricing swaps your fence types, styles, materials, finishes, and add-ons for the standard pricing, and it cannot be undone. Gate options and removal options stay.
Add fence types and styles
Select Add fence type, enter a Name, and select Save. Inside a fence type, select Add style, then select Add height under Heights & prices. Enter a Height (ft) and a Price per foot.
A style reaches customers only when Show to customers is on and one of its heights is priced above $0.
Deleting a fence type also deletes its styles and their heights, its materials, its finishes, and any add-on offered only for that type. An add-on shared with other fence types stays and is no longer offered for the deleted one.
Set material, finish, and add-on prices
Select Add material or Add finish, enter a name, and enter a Price per foot. A finish adds cost only when it is priced.
Select New add-on, choose Flat fee (each), Per foot, or Per square foot under How it's priced, and enter a Price. Leave Which fence types is this available for? empty to offer the add-on on every fence type.
Set gate and removal prices
Under Gates, select Add option, then enter a Width (ft) and a Price. Each gate adds its price and takes its width off the fence length.
Old fence removal offers two modes. One rate charges a single Price per square foot on all old fence. By fence type prices each removal option per square foot. Only Full users can switch modes or change the one-rate price.
Adjust prices in bulk
With Edit access and at least one fence type, select Adjust prices. Set Apply to to All prices or Materials only, choose Increase or Decrease under Direction, enter a Percentage, and select Apply. Decreases stop at $0.
Materials only covers materials, finishes, and style heights. All prices also covers add-ons, removal options, gate options, and the one-rate price.
Warning
Adjust prices changes every price in the chosen scope at once, and it cannot be undone.
Show a price range
In the Price range card, turn on Show a price range, then enter a Low end and a High end as percentages. Both start at 20, and each saves when you leave the field.
The low end rounds down and the high end rounds up to multiples of $50, so a $1,000 quote at 20 percent shows customers $800 to $1,200.
Note
Your team still sees the exact quote.
Check what is needed to go live
The fence page shows Live only when the fence is turned on, a public URL slug is set, and these checks pass:
- A style with Show to customers on has a height priced above $0.
- A gate option with Show to customers on is priced above $0.
- In By fence type mode, once removal options exist, at least one is priced above $0.
Materials, finishes, add-ons, and extra styles never block. Until all of that is true, the badge reads Not live yet. While a readiness check fails, its tooltip names the first missing step. It reads Off when the checks pass but the fence is switched off.
The overview and Add to Website use the server's status instead, which ignores gate and removal prices.
Until the tool is live, the overview lists the missing steps:
- No public URL slug. Set one under Public URL Slug on the Settings tab.
- A priced fence that is switched off. Full users turn it on with Offer on quote page on the overview.
- A priced quote tool that is switched off. Its step links to that tool.
- If nothing is live and nothing is priced but switched off, the list asks you to add pricing to at least one quote tool.
Add to Website shows the same list, and its Copy code buttons stay disabled until the tool is live. Then follow Add Instant Quotes to Your Website.
How customers draw fences
On the quote page, Add fence stays disabled until the current fence has two corners, and a quote can include at most eight fences. The Gates tab stays disabled until a fence is drawn. While a customer places a gate, a gate size picker appears if more than one gate option is offered.
