Set Your Service Area
Limit instant quotes to the places you serve, using regions, polygons, or radius areas on a map.
The service area is optional, and it limits which addresses can request an instant quote. Draw each area on the Service Area page as a region, a polygon, or a radius. With no saved area, every address can request a quote.
Add an area to your service area
Add one area for each part of your territory you serve.
- Open the Service Area page.
- If the app has no Google Maps key set, the map does not appear and the mode selector is disabled, so no area can be drawn.
- Under Add to Service Area, choose Region, Polygon, or Radius. Region is selected by default.
- For a region, type a city, county, or ZIP in Search city, county, or ZIP and select the place. Drag Radius (miles) to change the size, which starts at the place's size or 10 miles when no size is available.
- For a polygon, click each corner on the map. Drag a corner to move it.
- For a radius, click the map to drop a pin, then drag Radius (miles) to set the size.
- Click Save area in the Preview card.
- Save area stays disabled until the area is valid, such as a polygon with fewer than three corners.
The new area appears under Saved Areas and on the map, and the mode selection clears.
Note
A region saves as a center point and a radius, not as the outline of the place.
Remove an area
Remove an area you no longer serve. Addresses that only that area covered fall outside the service area.
- Open the Service Area page.
- In Saved Areas, click the trash icon on the area.
- The trash icon appears only with full access to quoting tools.
- Click Remove to confirm the removal.
The area stops appearing under Saved Areas once the page loads again.
Warning
Removing the last area lets every address request a quote.
Who can change the service area
Your access to quoting tools decides which controls you can use on this page.
- See the page: needs view access to quoting tools. Without full access, the map and Saved Areas are read-only.
- Save an area: needs full access to quoting tools.
- Remove an area: needs full access to quoting tools.
How addresses are checked
An address passes when it falls inside at least one saved area.
- No saved areas: every address passes.
- Polygon: the address must fall inside the outline.
- Region or radius: the address must lie within the radius, in miles, of the center.
- Removed areas: the check on the public quote page ignores them.
- Before submitting: the public quote page compares the confirmed address with your saved areas.
- On submit: the server repeats the check and saves the result on the quote request.
- Inside an area: the request status is Not finished.
- Outside every area: the request status is Outside service area, the customer sees the address as outside the area, and the Continue button no longer shows.
- Staff view: the status reads Outside service area on staff pages, and the leads list can filter by it.
