Set Up a Quote Tool

Price a service so customers can get an instant quote for it on your quote page.

A quote tool prices one service so customers can get an instant quote for it on your quote page. You build one on the Instant Quotes page.

Add a tool

Start from a template, or build a custom tool.

  1. On the Instant Quotes page, select Add a tool.
    • Requires Full permission.
  2. Select a template to create its tool at once, or select Build a custom tool.
  3. For a custom tool, choose how the job is measured. By area is preselected.
  4. For a custom tool, type a Tool name, or leave it blank for New quote tool.
  5. For a custom tool, select Create.

The tool's page opens once it's created.

Set your rates and catalog

A tool needs a price before it can go live.

  1. Under How Do You Charge?, choose One rate for everything or the second option.
    • Requires Full permission for steps 1 to 4.
  2. For one rate, type a price in the rate field. It saves when you leave the field.
  3. For a By area tool, choose a Rate unit.
  4. Optionally, type a Minimum charge. Jobs under it quote at that amount.
  5. For per-item pricing, use the Add buttons to add categories and items.
    • Requires Edit permission.
  6. Set a price on each item. Customers see only items that have a price.
    • Requires Edit permission.
  7. For a template with starter items, select the button that begins with Add common to load them.
    • Requires Full permission.

Starter items show Set price until you price them.

Warning

Changing the Rate unit converts priced rates. You confirm first only when a rate already has a price.

Measurements, quantities, and questions change the price.

  1. For By area and depth or By length and height tools, type the default depth or height.
    • Requires Full permission for steps 1 to 7.

  7. Under Each answer adjusts the, choose Job size or Final price.

Note

Use roof pitch preset adds and saves a pitch question. It appears only on By area tools until you add it.

Go live and preview the tool

A tool shows Live once it has a price, is switched on, and has a Public URL Slug.

  1. If the tool's badge reads Off, turn on Offer on quote page on its card.
    • Requires Full permission.
  2. Set your Public URL Slug in Settings.
  3. Select Preview as customer on a priced tool that is switched on.

You return to the Instant Quotes page.

  • By area and depth: customers outline each area, and a depth in inches turns it into cubic yards. Rate unit is Per cubic yard.
  • By length: customers draw each run. Rate unit is Per linear foot.
  • By length and height: customers draw each run, and a height in feet turns it into square feet. Rate unit is Per square foot.
  • By the item: customers pick items and enter how many, with no map. Rate unit is Per item.

Who can do what

Your Quoting Tools permission sets which parts of a tool you can change. See Roles and permissions for how roles work.

  • Edit lets you add extras, categories, and items, and set item prices.
  • Full includes everything Edit does. It also lets you create and delete tools, turn them on or off, rename them, change pricing, dimensions, questions, and quantities, and delete categories, items, and extras.
