Introduction to Analytics

Connect Google first, then read your Marketing Score and find which Website, Business Profile, or Rankings page to improve.

Analytics shows how people find your business on Google and visit your website. Its overview is the Marketing Score, one number out of 100 built from three components. The sidebar lists a page for each one: Website, Business Profile, and Rankings.

Connect Google

  1. Until a Google account is linked, the overview has no score and shows Connect Google. Only members with full analytics access see the button.
  2. Click Connect Google to open the Settings page for Analytics, then click Connect Google there.
  3. Google asks you to pick an account and approve access. The approval screen lists Business Profile access, which analytics uses to read your listing.
  4. Google returns you to the Analytics settings page. Select Choose a website to pick the Google Analytics property, and Manage locations to pick your Business Profile locations.
  5. With an account linked but no location, the overview shows Add a location instead of a score. That button also opens the Settings page for Analytics.

Connecting again with a different Google account adds a second account rather than replacing the first.

Google is also listed under Integrations in Settings, where it can be connected, reconnected, or disconnected. The Integrations article covers that page.

Choose your Business Profile location

  1. The overview scores one location at a time. With more than one location, its header shows a picker, and the score is for the selected location.
  2. One location is included, and each extra location is a paid add-on.
  3. Choose What Analytics Tracks covers which website, listings, keywords, and scan area analytics reports on.

Set up Local Ranking

  1. Open Settings under Analytics in the sidebar. The entry appears only for members who can edit analytics.
  2. On that page, set the keywords, search grid, and monthly scan. The keyword limit is 10 for each location, or 50 with the keyword add-on. The grid size is 3, 5, or 7 (default 5), and the radius runs from 1.0 to 10.0 miles (default 3.0).
  3. The monthly scan is off by default. Its schedule is set on the same page.
  4. Read results on the Rankings page. Track Search Rankings covers that page.

Only locations with a Google Maps place ID are flagged rankable.

Read the Marketing Score

  1. The Marketing Score shows no number until at least two of the three components have data. When it shows, the number reads out of 100.
  2. The tick on the bar marks last month's score, and it appears only when that score exists. In a first month there is no previous score.
  3. The line under the score gives the change from the previous 30 days once a previous month exists.
  4. The overview names your weakest component and links to its page.

What each component measures

  • Local Ranking: How high you show in Google Maps near your business. See Track Search Rankings.
  • Google Business Profile: Calls, direction requests, and clicks from your Google listing. See Read Business Profile Performance.
  • Website Traffic: People visiting your website, read from the one Google Analytics property the organization can connect. See View Website Traffic.

Each card shows its value and its change since last month, plus a proof line from the last 30 days when there is data. A card with no data shows Not connected and links to Settings. The components are listed heaviest first, and their weights are not displayed.

Who sees what

  • Analytics appears in the sidebar only for members who can see it. The pages require view access to analytics.
  • On a plan without Analytics, the sidebar entry is locked and the pages show an upgrade prompt. To switch plans, see Change Your Plan.
  • Connect Google, Add a location, and Go to settings require full analytics access.
  • Print report offers Last 30 days, Last 90 days, and Last 12 months for the selected location. It is hidden for members whose analytics access is limited.
  • Roles set these access levels. See Create and Edit Roles and Permissions.
