Choose What Analytics Tracks
Pick the website, Business Profile listings, keywords and scan area that Analytics tracks.
Analytics tracks one website, the Business Profile listings that are turned on, and the keywords and scan area for each listing. Set all of it on Analytics, under Settings.
Connect a Google account
Until a Google account is connected, the page shows a connect prompt.
- Click Connect Google.
- Complete the connection with Google.
- Wait for the page to return here.
The account appears under Connected as in the Google Account card.
Choose the website
Choosing a website sets the one website Analytics tracks.
- Click Change website or Choose a website in the Website row, or on an account row if several accounts are connected.
- With more than 8 websites, type in the search box.
- Click Use beside the website to track.
Note
The panel stays open while the website's full history loads, then closes.
The Website row shows the website's name.
Turn on Business Profile locations
Turning a listing on starts tracking it, with its own keyword limit and scan settings.
- Click Manage locations in the Business Profile Locations card, or on an account row if several accounts are connected.
- Turn on the switch beside each listing to track.
- Turn a switch off to stop tracking that listing.
Note
Turning a listing off keeps its keywords and past scans.
A listing marked primary shows a Primary badge in the card.
Add and remove keywords
Each location has its own keyword list.
- With more than one location, choose the location in the dropdown beside Keywords and scan area for.
- Type a phrase, such as fence repair near me, in the Tracked Keywords card.
- Click Add.
- Click the x icon beside a keyword to remove it.
Note
Adding a keyword to a location that has never been scanned starts its first ranking check.
Added phrases appear as tags, and the card header meter counts them.
Raise a location to 50 keywords
Each location includes 10 keywords. An upgrade raises one to 50 for a monthly price.
- Choose the location in the dropdown beside Keywords and scan area for.
- Click the upgrade button in the footer of Tracked Keywords, or in its banner once every slot is used.
- Click Add the upgrade in the dialog.
Warning
Confirming adds the monthly price to the subscription.
The meter in the card header now counts out of 50.
Set the scan area and monthly scan
The scan area sets how far each ranking check looks in Google Maps: about 2 miles for Close by, 4 for Your city, and 7 for Wide area.
- Choose the location in the dropdown beside Keywords and scan area for.
- Under How far out to scan, click Close by, Your city, or Wide area.
- Turn on Scan automatically every month.
Note
The scan area and monthly toggle stay disabled until Google Maps shows the location as live and verified.
The page confirms that changes apply to the next scan.
Access and limits
- Viewing: Anyone with view access can open the page.
- Keywords: Anyone with edit access can add and remove keywords.
- Controls: Only people with full access see the website, location, and scan area controls. Others see a note in place of the website and location buttons.
- Keyword limit: Only people with full access see the upgrade controls. Others see a banner at the limit.
- Keyword text: A phrase can be up to 120 characters. Duplicates are refused.
- Switching back: On the web, an upgraded location below its limit can switch back to 10 keywords from its footer. Confirm Switch to 10 keywords in the dialog. The switch is refused while more than 10 keywords are tracked, so remove keywords first.
- Native app: No keyword upgrade is offered, and the server refuses one.
- Plan: One location is included with the plan. Each extra location adds a monthly price.
- Monthly scan: Scheduled scans queue on the first of each month, in the business time zone or UTC when that is missing.
- Stored data: When analytics leaves the plan, a nightly job deletes its stored data after 12 months. Putting analytics back on the plan clears the countdown. The job never deletes the Google connection.
- Rankings: Search rankings are covered in track search rankings.
- Roles: Access levels are described in roles and permissions.
