Repeat an Event
Make an event repeat, then change or delete one event, the events after it, or all of them.
A repeating event shows the same event again on the schedule, such as every week or every day. Set a pattern when you create or edit an event. New to the schedule? Start with Introduction to the Schedule.
Create a repeating event
Set a pattern while you create an event. To create one, see Add an Event.
- Select the Event tab.
- Enter a Title.
- Set Start date, Start, End date, and End.
- Choose a pattern in Repeat.
- The weekly option repeats on the start date's weekday, so a Tuesday start repeats every Tuesday.
- A custom pattern sets how often the event repeats. In weeks, it also sets which weekdays it uses.
- A custom pattern sets its end with Never, On date, or After.
- Click Save.
The schedule shows the event on each date in the pattern.
Note
The Repeat control appears only when repeating events are on, and they are on by default.
Make an existing event repeat
Add a pattern to an event that does not repeat yet.
- Open the event on the schedule.
- Choose a pattern in Repeat.
- Click Save.
The event now repeats on the schedule.
Edit one event, the events after it, or all events
Editing a repeating event asks which events to change. The choice comes after you click Save.
- Open the event on the schedule.
- Change any of Title, Start date, Start, End date, End, Repeat,
Address, or Notes.
- A change to Repeat applies only to This and following events and All events.
- Click Save.
- In the same panel, choose This event, This and following events, or All events.
- Click OK.
The schedule shows the change for the events you chose.
Delete one event, the events after it, or all events
Deleting a repeating event asks which events to remove before anything is deleted.
- Open the event on the schedule.
- Click Delete.
- The Delete button appears only with full schedule access.
- In the same panel, choose This event, This and following events, or All events.
- Click OK.
The chosen events leave the schedule.
Warning
OK deletes the chosen events at once. No confirmation step appears for a repeating event.
What each option changes
- This event changes or deletes only the event you opened. Other events keep their dates and details.
- This and following events, on an edit, leaves earlier events on the old pattern and details. It starts a new repeating event from the event you opened, with your changes. Changes made to later events are dropped.
- This and following events, on a delete, ends the repeating event the day before the event you opened. The event you opened and the events after it are removed.
- All events, on an edit, changes the title, notes, address, start and end times, and pattern of the whole repeating event. Each event keeps its own date, so a changed date is ignored and only the new times apply.
- Does not repeat with This and following events keeps earlier events, turns the event you opened into a single event, and removes the events after it.
- Does not repeat with All events turns the repeating event into a single event on its first date.
- All events, on a delete, removes the repeating event and every change made to its events.
Limits
- A custom pattern repeats every 1 to 365 days, weeks, months, or years.
- After stops a repeating event after at most 730 events.
- An event can last at most 7 days.
- An event linked to a job cannot repeat.
- Editing needs edit access to the schedule.
- Deleting needs full schedule access.
