Clock In and Out

Clock in and out, switch activities, change jobs, and submit your day.

Clock in and out on the Time Clock page, switch between work, breaks, travel, and waiting, and choose the job each span is for. The page shows only your own time.

Clock in to start work

Clock in to start a work span. A later clock in on the same day adds a span to that day's timesheet.

  1. Open the Time Clock page.
  2. Select a job in the list, or select General work (no job).
    • The list starts on the job of your most recent span today that has one, or on the first job in the list.
    • With no assigned jobs, the page shows no list, and you clock in on general work.
  3. Click Clock in.

The timer starts counting. The line under it reads Working on and the job name, or general work when no job is selected.

Note

With location sharing on, the browser has three seconds to return a position. If it does not, the clock in still starts without one.

Switch to a break, travel, or idle time

Switching ends the running span and starts a new span on the same job.

  1. Click the button for the activity you are starting: Take a break, Travel, Idle / waiting, or Back to work.
    • The button for your current activity does not appear.

The badge changes to the new activity, and the Since line shows when the new span started.

Note

A break is unpaid unless the Breaks are paid by default toggle is on in the time settings. That toggle is off by default.

Change the job you are working on

Change the job during work, travel, or idle time to start a new span on another job.

  1. Click Change job.
  2. Select the job in the list.
    • Select General work (no job) to remove the job from the span.
    • Select the job you are already on, or click Cancel, to close the list with no change.

The timer restarts at 0:00 on the new span. On a work span, the line under the timer names the new job.

Note

Change job does not appear during a break, or when you have no assigned jobs.

Clock out

Clock out to end the running span.

  1. Click Clock out.

The timer stops, the badge reads Clocked out, and the Clock in button appears.

Submit today's timesheet

Submit today's timesheet when your day is finished. The button appears only when no span is running and today has at least one span.

  1. Click Clock out if a span is running.
  2. Click Submit today's timesheet.

The badge reads All done, and the Clock in button no longer appears.

Warning

After you submit, you cannot clock in again that day.

Share your location at clock in

Turn on location sharing to record your position when you clock in.

  1. Turn on Share location when clocking in in the Location card.
    • Turn it off to stop recording your position.

The toggle shows on, and the next clock in records your position when the browser provides it.

Note

Switching activity and clocking out do not record a position.

What the clock shows

  • Break, Idle / waiting, Travel, or Work: the badge shown while a span runs.
  • Clocked out: no span is running and today's timesheet is not submitted. The clock shows the job list and the Clock in button.
  • All done: today's timesheet is submitted, and the clock no longer offers a clock in.
  • Today's Activity: lists each span today with its type, job, and time range. The range ends in now while a span runs, and unpaid spans carry an (unpaid) marker.
  • Breaks: the stat card under the clock shows Paid or Unpaid, following the break setting.
  • If you are not set up as an employee, the page shows no clock, and you cannot clock in. Users with full access to settings see a Set up employees button there.
  • If your time tracking profile is inactive, the page shows no clock, stats, or location card, and you cannot clock in or edit your time.
