Worked example

A composite build priced by the instant deck quote tool

A 16 by 20 composite deck. Drag the footprint and the price moves by the square foot; below the minimum, the minimum shows instead.

A 320 sq ft composite deck off the back of a house.

320 sq ft
  • Composite (320 sq ft) 320 sq ft × $48.00 $15,360.00
Total $15,360.00

With the price range on, the customer sees $13,800 to $17,700 instead.

$48 a square foot for composite sits inside the range in the price table above. You set your own rate for every material.

FAQ

Questions deck companies ask

Installed prices run $25 to $50 a square foot for pressure-treated pine, $30 to $47 for cedar and $40 to $80 for composite (price table). Set one rate per material and a minimum that covers small platforms.

Yes, and for a build it is often wiser. Pick a percentage under and over the figure; each end is rounded to the nearest $50, and your copy of the lead holds the unrounded number.

The tool prices the footprint by the square foot. Railings and stairs are counted or measured differently, so fold a typical allowance into each material's rate, or add a flat add-on for a set of stairs.

Free on every plan, including the request list. The paid plans add written quotes and jobs for the build itself.

Restaining is a different job with its own page: the deck staining quote tool. A visitor can price both in the same visit if you publish both tools.

From the outline they draw over their backyard. We redo the measurement from that shape at submit time, so the area cannot be typed in smaller.
