The [**Timesheets**](/go/time/timesheets) page lists each employee's tracked time by day. Correct segments there, then submit, approve, or return each day, and adjust approved days. Employees track time with [Clock In and Out](/help/time-tracking/clock-in-and-out).

## Move between weeks

Use the chevron buttons beside the date range to change the week.

1. Click the left chevron to show the week before.
2. Click the right chevron to show the week after.
   - The right chevron is disabled on the current week.
3. Repeat until the date range shows the week you need.

The date range changes to the week you chose.

## Open a day's segments

Each day is made of timed segments and shows its paid time and status.

1. Click the day.
2. Look for **running** in the **Time** column, which marks an open segment.
3. Read each segment's **Duration**.

The day's segments appear with **Time** and **Duration** columns.

## Edit a segment

Use **Edit** to change a segment's type, times, or paid status.

1. Click the day.
2. Click **Edit** on a segment that has an end time.
3. In the **Edit Segment** dialog, change the **Type**, **Start**, or **End**.
   - Uncheck **Paid time** to mark the segment unpaid.
   - Saving is refused when the end is not after the start.
4. Click **Save**.

The segment shows its new times, and unpaid segments show an **Unpaid** label.

## Add a segment

Add a segment when a day is missing time.

1. Click the day.
2. Click **Add segment**.
3. In the **Add Segment** dialog, set **Type**, **Start**, and **End**.
   - The dialog starts with a work segment, with both times at 09:00 on the day's date.
4. Click **Save**.

The new segment appears among the day's segments.

## Delete a segment

Delete a segment that does not belong on the day.

1. Click the day.
2. Find the segment to remove.
3. Click **Delete** on the segment.

The segment leaves the day at once, with no confirmation step.

## Submit a timesheet

Only the employee who owns an open day can submit it.

1. Click the day.
2. Check that no segment on the day shows **running**, which blocks submitting.
3. Click **Submit**.

The status changes to **Submitted**.

## Approve a timesheet

Approve a day, submitted or not, to make it final.

1. Click the day.
2. Check that no segment on the day shows **running**, which blocks approval.
3. Click **Approve**.

The status changes to **Approved**, and the editing buttons disappear.

> **Warning:** An approved day cannot be edited. Use **Adjust** instead, as described in [Adjust an approved timesheet](#adjust-an-approved-timesheet).

## Return a submitted timesheet

Return a submitted day so the employee can change it.

1. Click the day.
2. Check that the status reads **Submitted**.
3. Click **Return**.

The status changes to **Open**, so the employee can edit and resubmit the day.

## Adjust an approved timesheet

Approved and locked days are corrected with an adjustment, which replaces the original in totals and exports.

1. Click the approved or locked day.
2. Click **Adjust**.
3. In the **Create Adjustment** dialog, change, add, or remove segments.
   - Click the **Remove segment** button (x icon) to remove one. **Create adjustment** is disabled when none remain.
4. Enter a **Reason**, which is optional.
5. Click **Create adjustment**.
   - A segment whose end is not after its start is refused.

The original shows the **Superseded** badge, and the copy shows the **Adjustment** badge.

> **Note:** **Adjust** is hidden once a day has an adjustment.

## See the audit log

Open the audit log to review every change made to a day.

1. Click the day.
2. Click **Audit log**.
3. Read the entries in the **Audit Log** dialog.

The **Audit Log** dialog lists each change with its action, actor, and time.

## Statuses and badges

- **Open**: The employee can edit and submit the day. Admins and Managers can also approve it.
- **Submitted**: Waiting for approval. The employee can still edit it, and Admins and Managers can approve or return it.
- **Approved**: The day is final, and changes go through **Adjust**.
- **Locked**: Set when **Close period** on the [**Payroll**](/go/time/payroll) page locks approved days in the dates shown.
- **Adjustment** and **Superseded**: The corrected copy, and the original it replaces.
- **Missed break** and **Short break**: Break rules are set in [Configure Time Tracking Settings](/help/time-tracking/time-tracking-settings). A **Missed break** has no break once work reaches the set amount. A **Short break** is shorter than the set length.

## Who can review and edit

Change role access in [Create and Edit Roles and Permissions](/help/team/roles-and-permissions).

- **Admin** and **Manager** have full time tracking access. They see every employee's days and can edit, approve, return, and adjust them.
- **Team Lead** and **Tech** see and edit only their own days. They cannot approve, return, or adjust a day.
- **Office Staff** and **Sales** have no time tracking access, so they cannot open this page.
- Editing your own day also requires an active employee profile.
