See the expenses QuickBooks records for your business, one month at a time, on the [**Expenses**](/go/expenses) page. QuickBooks purchases cannot be edited on this page, so you change them in QuickBooks.

## Connect QuickBooks to see its purchases

QuickBooks purchases reach the list only through a connected QuickBooks company. Roles that see QuickBooks purchases get a banner above the list when QuickBooks is not connected, and the banner offers **Connect QuickBooks**.

1. Open **Expenses** from the sidebar.
2. Select **Connect QuickBooks** in the banner.
3. On the [**Integrations**](/go/settings/integrations) page, find the QuickBooks card and connect your QuickBooks company.
4. Return to the **Expenses** page.

Once connected, the banner no longer shows, and QuickBooks purchases start appearing after the first sync.

## Move between months

The page opens on the current month, and each month has its own list and total. Use the arrows beside the month name to read another month.

1. Select the **Previous month** arrow to see the month before.
2. Select the **Next month** arrow to see the month after.

The month name and the list change to the month you chose.

## What each column shows

Each row is one expense, and a dash means the row has no value for that column.

- **Date**: the transaction date from QuickBooks, shown as a day and short month, such as Oct 3.
- **Vendor**: the vendor name from QuickBooks. Each synced purchase has a **QuickBooks** badge in this cell, and the QuickBooks memo appears under the name when there is one.
- **Category**: the account on the first account-based line of the purchase.
- **Job**: the job the expense is filed against, shown as its number and title.
- **Logged by**: the person who logged the expense. This column is hidden for crew roles limited to assigned work.
- **Amount**: the total in US dollars, with the payment type from QuickBooks beneath it.

## How QuickBooks changes reach the list

JobWise Pro pulls QuickBooks changes in the background about once an hour, so a change shows on the list after the next hourly sync picks it up.

- **New purchase**: appears after the sync that pulls it in.
- **Edited purchase**: the row updates after the next sync that pulls the change.
- **Deleted purchase**: the next sync marks it deleted in JobWise Pro.
- **First sync**: picks up QuickBooks changes from the last 30 days. Later syncs resume where the previous one stopped and never reach back more than 30 days.
- **Large backlog**: each sync applies a limited number of changes, so a large backlog arrives over several syncs.
- **Reconnect**: only active connections sync, and a connection that QuickBooks flags for reconnect stops syncing.

> **Note:** QuickBooks purchases have no **Expense actions** menu on this page. Edit the purchase in QuickBooks, and the list updates after the next sync.

## Who can open the page

- Roles with view access to **Expenses** can open the page.
- Crew roles limited to assigned work can also open it. They see only the expenses they logged, and no QuickBooks purchases.
- The **Expenses** entry appears in the sidebar for roles with view access.

## Limits

- The page reads up to 1,000 logged expenses and up to 1,000 QuickBooks purchases for one month. When either source reaches 1,000, a warning shows above the list, and the list can leave out expenses from that month.
- A purchase that QuickBooks has not changed in the last 30 days does not appear until it changes again.
- The list does not show the QuickBooks document number or the account on the purchase header.
- The page has no search or filter, so the month arrows are the only way to move through expenses.
