Instant Quotes lets visitors price their own job on a public quote page on your website. Visitors measure their own property on a satellite map and see a price from your catalog. Each finished quote creates a [contact](/help/contacts/introduction-to-contacts) and a [lead](/help/leads/introduction-to-leads).

## Build a quote tool

Each tool prices one kind of work, such as gutter cleaning.

1. Open [**Instant Quotes**](/go/instant-quotes) from the sidebar.
2. Click the **Add a tool** tile after your tool cards.
3. Click a template, or click **Build a custom tool**.
   - A template creates the tool at once, named after the template.
4. For a custom tool, pick how you charge, type a **Tool name**, and click **Create**.
   - The choices are **By area**, **By the item**, **By length**, **By length and height**, and **By area and depth**.

Outcome: the tool's page opens.

The fence has its own card on the overview, separate from your tools.

## Set prices and go live

Each tool stays off the quote page until it has a price. Its card button reads **Get started** until then, and **Settings** after.

1. Click **Get started** on the tool's card.
2. Set prices on the tool's page, as [Set Up a Quote Tool](/help/instant-quotes/set-up-a-quote-tool) explains.
3. Return to [**Instant Quotes**](/go/instant-quotes) and check the tool's card.
   - If the card reads **Not live yet**, set a public URL slug in [**Settings**](/go/instant-quotes/settings).

Outcome: the card reads **Live**, and the **Share Your Quote Tool** card appears.

## Offer or hide a tool

Switching a tool off changes only its on or off setting, so its prices stay saved.

1. Find the tool's card on [**Instant Quotes**](/go/instant-quotes).
2. Switch **Offer on quote page** on or off.
   - The fence card shows this switch once the fence has prices, or while it is off.

Outcome: a priced tool's card reads **Off** after you switch it off.

> **Note:** The quote page shows only switched-on tools.

## Share the quote page

The **Share Your Quote Tool** card shows the link to your quote page once a tool is live.

1. Send the link from the **Share Your Quote Tool** card to customers.
2. Click **Embed it on your website** to open the embed page.

Outcome: the embed page opens. [Add Instant Quotes to Your Website](/help/instant-quotes/add-instant-quotes-to-your-website) covers placing the tool on your site.

## What visitors do on the quote page

Visitors price a job without signing in.

1. Enter a first name, last name, and email. Add a phone number when the business takes one.
2. Tick the consent box and complete the verification check.
3. Confirm the address on the map.
   - An address outside the service area is recorded as outside it, and **Continue** stays disabled.
4. Pick a service, when the business offers more than one.
5. Outline the work on the map, or enter counts, as the tool asks.
   - A fence is priced one run at a time, each with its own materials.
6. Read the price on the result.
   - When the business shows a range, the result shows the range.

Outcome: the result shows the price, then offers another service when one is left.

The customer is emailed one estimate for the whole visit, covering up to 25 quotes. The estimate email goes out only when the business owner's email is verified.

The result shows a line confirming the emailed copy only when the email goes out. If it does not go out, the quote is still saved and your team is still notified.

## Handle quote requests

Each finished visit becomes one row in your requests list, with every service it quoted.

1. Click [**Quote Requests**](/go/instant-quotes/leads) in the sidebar.
2. Open a request. [Handle Quote Requests](/help/instant-quotes/handle-quote-requests) covers what to do with it.

Outcome: the request's page opens.

Your team also gets a new-lead email that opens the quote it came from.

> **Note:** A quote run by a signed-in team member is never emailed automatically. The member sends it by hand from the result page.

## Tool statuses and access

Each tool card shows one of three statuses:

- **Live**: priced, switched on, and the business has a public URL slug.
- **Not live yet**: no price yet, or no public URL slug.
- **Off**: priced and switched off.

Your [role](/help/team/roles-and-permissions) sets what you can change:

- Members with quoting-tools access see **Instant Quotes** in the sidebar, with **Quote Requests** and **Settings** under it.
- Every Instant Quotes page needs view access.
- Adding a tool and the **Offer on quote page** switches need full access.
- On a tool's page, full access is needed to change the measurement, count and question cards, and to use **Turn on**, the starter catalog button, and **Delete this tool**.
- On the fence page, edit access changes fence types, styles, add-ons, prices and options. Full access also sets the removal mode, the price range and the standard fence pricing.
- On the settings page, **Customize the Look** needs settings edit access, and **What You Ask Customers** needs quoting edit access.
